Your privacy and confidentiality are central to our counselling practice. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the ethical standards outlined by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and Practice Standards. Client records are stored securely in line with professional standards. Electronic records are protected through secure, end-to-end encrypted, password-protected systems. Any physical records are stored in locked storage.
Records are retained for the period required under Australian legal and professional guidelines before secure disposal.
Telehealth & Online Services
For telephone and video counselling, reasonable steps are taken to use secure platforms and protect your privacy. However, clients are encouraged to ensure they are in a private space during sessions to maintain confidentiality.
Access to Your Information
You may request access to your personal information or request corrections where appropriate. Requests can be made in writing and will be responded to in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles.
Complaints
If you have concerns about how your information is managed, you are encouraged to raise this directly with us in the first instance. If the matter is not resolved, you may contact the Australian Counselling Association or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
